Within the framework of the project "Interaction" in March 2018, a training in mediation was held at the Faculty of Law of the Belarusian State Economic University.
The last decade in the Republic of Belarus is actively working on the introduction of mediation as an alternative and most effective method for settling legal disputes and preventing crises and conflicts in the relationships between people, especially in families.
The practice of applying mediation in countries with a more developed judicial system, for example, in the United States, led to the fact that most disputes there are considered with the participation of independent mediators. In the foreseeable future, they plan to increase this figure to 85%.
Students, participants of the legal clinic, got acquainted with the technology of mediation and the possibility of its application under the following program:
- Conflicts and difficulties in decision-making in conflict situations.
- Principles of constructive negotiations.
- Decision-making procedures in disputable situations, differences.
- Mediation as an alternative to litigation.
- Variety of forms of mediation.
- Prospects for mediation in the Republic of Belarus.
The training was conducted by Daria Chibuyeva, lawyer, non-formal education trainer, mediator and Davidovich Alexander, non-formal education coach, mediator.
The students, as well as their leader, enthusiastically participated in practical exercises, actively expressed their opinion and highly appreciated the level of preparation and holding of the event.
