February 15 is celebrated annually as International Childhood Cancer Day. It is a global, collaborative campaign aimed at raising awareness about childhood cancer and expressing support for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors, and their families.
More than 400,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer each year. Childhood cancer is one of the leading causes of death among children worldwide. Childhood cancer affects individuals and families year-round, but this day provides an opportunity for the public to raise awareness and gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and difficulties faced by those affected by childhood cancer. Declaring International Childhood Cancer Day also highlights the need for more equitable and high-quality access to treatment and care for all children with cancer worldwide.
